If you are on about the guy on the BBC (Beaumont his name ?) yes, he got a free holiday courtesy of the licence payer.

Cycling the Pan-am (Prudhoe Bay to Ushuaia or less-commonly, the reverse) is not that rare. It takes most people 2 years+ and is one of the classic long distance cycle tours. Capetown to Cairo and London to Beijing are the other 2. The Pan-am is actually the most straightforward in some ways - but it is all relative of course.
Climbing Aconcagua is more-or-less a high altitude trek (but many underestimate that altitude, cold and wind to their peril). Denali is a more serious undertaking.

Indeed, my 3.25 mile cycle home from work today really helped me put this Pan-am vacation in perspective!

I watched the programme last night and thought it was amazing what the guy achieved. Really superb and I now need to watch the first two episodes.

[tongue in cheek] Just like that bloke Palin - he got several holidays - or the Top Gear presenters - actually many TV presenters. In fact anyone who works for the BBC gets money courtesy of the license payer - it's a bloody scandal! [/tongue in cheek]

I wonder if it will do for sales of Koga bikes with Rohloff gears, what Ewan&Charlie did for BMW GS1200s?
