Nickelback Boycott

Posted by: dave brubeck on 07 December 2006

They have just come on the radio in my office.

I would now like to suggest a worldwide boycott on the said 'band' in the hope that they will be dropped by their record label for evermore.

Please post a blank reply below if you are in agreement and I will forward a print of this thread to the relevant music watchdogs.

Happy birthday, Dave (ok, so it was yesterday). You're pretty politically active for an 86-year old.

Someone may soon explain this incomprehensible post. Not that I'm considering a boycott, as I'd never think of buying their stuff.

Funny to see that this forum serves as a means for lynching. Even more "funny" that this happens in the Music Room, normally a place for civilized posts and people. Some agreement to this practice obivously, as well, here.

Oh well, the world is turning...

... unpleasant. Or more correctly the Anglo-Saxon world is. I am emigrating to somewhere more spiritual! [Closer to your fair land than I am now, here, in UK]. I totally agree with your sentiments, dear Stefan!

This just seems mean-spirited. I "boycott" music that I don't like by not buying it. I have no reason to want to put anyone out of work or to deprive those with different musical taste from me of something they enjoy. Bah humbug.

I suspect that most of us still don't know what the duck this is all about!

I think I've boycotted them already since I don't own and have never heard anything by them as far as I know.

What have they done to deserve such a boycott though?

No, he isn't serious. Have you all just recently had a humour bypass or something. Roll Eyes

Oh God! I am a such tit!

My apologies to Mr Brubeck!

I'm blaming it on my flu medication . .

Good Lord.... What have I done...

Looks like in this day of perceived 'correctness' we are not permitted to say we don't like certain things... how uncivilized of me...

I wish Mick Parry would comment and put us all right.

The fact remains though:

Nickelback are, undoubtedly, crap. I haven't felt this strongly about bad music since Richard Ashcroft...

Mick will not have the faintest idea of whom you speak, and neither do I.
Posted on: 10 December 2006 by dave brubeck
Bob - consider yourself lucky.

Munch - ok agreed. Ashcroft never reached the levels Nickelback have.

David Tribe, Rasher, Mike 1380, JWM - Respect

Cookiemonster, PJT - Why not?

Jayd - Three cheers for me. Thanks a lot.

Graham55 - Granted the original thread may have been confusing, but it carries the general sentiment.

ROTF - Nickelback are a not so young boy band with fake testosterone, emotional levels and sentiments.

sjust - Lynching? Moi? Uncivilized? Moi? You can't fight the majority of naim users' opinions

Frederik_Whiske - I promise I shall only say nice things about classical music in the Music Room from now on. However I cannot argue with you as you are a well respected member of the forum. Even if you do only have a Nait5...

Chris Kelly, Sir Cupcake - You are quite correct. Me neither. But they are terrible you know.

Dougunn - No. Get well soon.

Dear Dave,

You don't have to agree with me! Over time I find myself disagreeing with what I once thought! Thanks for calling me a well respected member, but there is surely no sure thing, at least unless the respect has been earned. I would really hope that some people respect me in this Forum, but only if I have earned it! There is no hierachy! I like you response! But there is no reason why you should like what I say, unless you actually do!

Also I find that there is more classical music I don't like than Rock, Pop, and Jazz [etc] because I fairly well know my way round the classical repertoire, but am far less versed in other areas! On the other hand I don't really like negativity [at least in the Music Room, because it can offend those who really don't share our tastes], though my first post on this thread also shows that even I can manage to be a little hypocrite when I am not quite thinking!!!

Kindets regards from Fredrik!
