AC/DC at the O2

The missing link in my ride across Planet Rock 'n' Roll was not having caught Angus and the Boys before, not a band I afford much listening time at home but from what people had told me worth catching live.
I was not to be disappointed. A stunning set, so simple in delivery, no keyboards, synths just 2 guitars, bass and drums but truly spectacular lighting and visuals. Their delivery of older and newer material alike was spot on from the opening Rock 'n' Roll Train, through the awesome mid gig The Jack (Angus's ritual removal of the shirt sandwiched between the dirtiest of dirty blues guitar), Hells Bells and Shoot to Kill and the inevitable Highway to Hell on the encore.
For Those About To Rock - I think this is the set list:
1. Rock N' Roll Train
2. Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be
3. Back In Black
4. Big Jack
5. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
6. Shot Down in Flames
7. Thunderstruck
8. Black Ice
9. The Jack
10. Hells Bells
11. Shoot To Thrill
12. War Machine
13. Anything Goes
14. You Shook Me All Night Long
15. T.N.T.
16. Whole Lotta Rosie
17. Let There Be Rock
Encore:
18. Highway To Hell
19. For Those About To Rock (We Salute You

Seeing them in Manchester next Tuesday. I haven't seen them since August 1981 at Castle Donnington, the day after I got my O'level results.
Looking forward to it.

A friend went, took his son, said it was a gig not to forget.

I saw them at Trentham Gardens with Bon Scott not long before his demise and then on the Back in Black tour a few years later with wotsisname. Brilliant on both occasions.

I saw them in Manchester on Tuesday. They played the same set, and played very well, put on a great show, with more than a hint of rock 'panto' to it all.
The stage set, lighting, projections etc. were very good, but didn't distract from five guys playing really well. I was also impressed by how fit the band were, and how much energy they had one stage. I hope in another ten years I am half that fit.
I really enjoyed the first half hour of the show, but after that I started to lose interest. The bluesy 'The Jack' was excellent, and 'Let There Be Rock' was fantastic, but all in all I think they are a band I would have liked to see at a festival for around 40 minutes and then gone on to something else.
I did think that there might have been a few more young fans there, I thought AC/DC might have more of a cross generational appeal, mid 40's was the average age there.
I am not saying that they were not good, they were amazing, but that my musical tastes have (not surprisingly) changed in the 28 years since I last saw them, and they are probably no longer a band for me. I have not gone off loud music live, I have just got tickets to see Nine Inch Nails with guests Janes Addiction in a couple of months at the M.E.N. and that I am looking forward to.
