Sad days

Hi
I'm totally devastated by the loss of my lovely companion Jake.
He has been with me for the past 10 years since he was a puppy. He was a gorgeous brindle/white boxer with a great character.
In the past week he has been diagnosed with liver cancer and I had to have him put to sleep since his condition was deteriorating rapidly.
Jake was my 6th boxer dog. I got him in the UK from Sheila Cartwright of Tyegarth kennels in Surrey.
Boxers are my breed. I was given my first one when I was 7 years of age and now that I'm 50, I'm on the way to my 7th one.
Just needed to get it off my chest. Hope you'll understand.
Thanks for looking.
Regards,
Pedro

Yeah, lovely dogs are Boxers. Deepest condolences with what is a big loss. I am sure where Jake is he is happy and being fed lots of steak.

Pedro
Please accept my condolences.
Whilst your pain is nothing compared to my sick cat recovering after my wife successfully ran over it in her car (don't even go there ....) you can rest easy in the belief you gave your dog a happy life and spared it's pain.
Sharing your thoughts and love of the dog is admirable.
I trust your next one is as good a dog for you.

Dear Pedro,
I have put two beloved dogs down in my life and lost others. The last time was the hardest, so I know what happens emotionally. You have my complete sympathy. My old friend was 12 and it was the only kind thing to do. I was better next day as I knoew he could hardly have been better loved, but this has brought back memories of nine years ago almost exactly. His name was Fred too, for some reason. Actually I am crying for his memory now Fredrik I loved that old dog from six week's old to his death more than any human, actually. Sorry about that, but it still hits me occasionally, like now. Every time i see the photos i took of my dog i do feel a lot of nostalgia and think about the good old days.
I've had about 6 months of void.
I'll never have a german sheperd anymore bacause the breed got too fragile.
This because of all those gentlemen who make businnes on dogs and think only about money.
This morning i went to see a man in the neighbour who has a fantastic male cross from a german sheperd and a samoiedo.
I did book a pup in the next litter that will come soon from his dog and a belgian sheperd female.
Maybe i'll take a couple.
I look forward.

Kota,
I am very sorry for your loss of Jake, and I hope he did not suffer a lot towards the end.
Savannah, our Rhodesian Ridgeback passed the age of 14, and I guess she is trying for an Olympic record (the breed averages 10-11 years). She has slowed down a lot recentley and we are just trying to make the rest of her days as pleasant as possible for her.
Good luck with your next boxer,
Haim

I have a Dexter Dog - a beaut Doberman/Rottweiler X. It'll certainly be a sad day when he goes.

Both my wife and I have lost beautiful dogs in the past that we had grown up with for 10 and 12 years respectively.
People who have never been close to a pet can never fully understand the loss - such unconditional love and companionship is something that you only get from a dog.
There's nothing like coming home to a bouncing, wagging-tailed best friend who is ALWAYS glad to see you.
