Help me, I've moved!

Hi Naimophobics!

I just moved to another room in the same house. It's a lot bigger than my previous room and has an L-shape. I know, not ideal. Perhaps even worse, all sides make a 25 degree angle from one meter up. Last but not least, I now have carpet instead of a wooden floor.

Anyway, the sound is not as good as in my previous room. It's way worse! No good stereo, no detail and highs are dampened.

The speakers are not at even distances from the sidewalls. One is about 1,2 metres from the left wall, the other about 3,2 metres from the right sidewall. They are about 1,6 metres apart firing into the long side of the room. They are not facing any glass at all.

Does anybody know what I can do to improve things? There's no choice but to put the speakers on one of the two long walls (i.e. the big corner of the room).

TIA Bas

bas,

have you tried some computer similuations ?, look here Cara speaker placement software

I just started using the solution this software gave me and the results are encouraging. I too moved to a new room, and while my room is not yet sorted and the system not tuned to it, I have better clarity than I had before. Moreover the software came up with a solution I would have refused otherwise, which better suits my wife's decoration taste.

In Stereophile, from september or october, a reviewer states that he got the best results with an L shaped room with the listening position and the speakers entirely in one leg of the L.

my borrowed two cents worth.
