An al*** worth having for the cover alone...

Having already exceeded my quota of three on the 'Three Live Albums' thread, I though this one's worth having for the cover alone! And surely there are plenty more...?!

the tubes. yes. i saw this band a few times in high school. to this day, a performance at the santa cruz civic in the mid eithties ranks among my top 5 rock shows ever. Feeeeee!

I have a bunch of live recordings of the tubes from that era in santa cruz. Mostly from the Catalyst. They are a great listen, what with Prairie Prince on the drums, etc. But the live show was always like a porn movie crossed with sci fi. Thats a good thing in my book.

Those 4 are worth having just for the music Smile

Great covers though.

John,

I love them both; an iconic cover and great album that is filed under "Does Humour Belong In Music ? Big Grin

BTW - I'm seeing Todd Rundgren (with Prarie Prince) on 23 Nov, playing in London.

I love that album too. Very different from the first two. I like that power ballad "I dont want to wait any more" as well as all the hits.

That should be a great show. Prairie has been touring with Todd for a while. A few of Todds live releases has him on there. Have fun! If you are really into the tubes I can send you a few of these live recordings from the 80s on CDR if you want.

Nantucket Sleighride by Mountain. Fabulous album, beautiful gatefold sleeve with wonderful artwork by Gail Collins who sadly shot her husband Felix Pappalardi a few years later. Still one of my top ten albums almost 37 years after I first heard it.

More info here.

Anything by Neon Park

Little Feat aficionados will be able to spot the origins of a few album sleeves from this collection.

Worth owning for the music, the cover and the title

There are some horrors here , and believe me, I've heard one or two of these and the music within is even worse than what's on the cover!

Wonderful cover

The idea was that this album ruined the covers of the LPs filed next to it. Unfortunately it also warped the record itself into unplayability...

It was later reissued in this more practical, and rather beautiful, Dufy cover...

Lastest vinyl bought thread
I wasn't sure whether to post this in this thread or the latest vinyl purchase one, I decided on the above, but it is to an album I bought purely for the cover art.

Not a classic like others on this thread, but one bought for the reasons explained there, namely it is an artwork I made, but used without my permission.

I'd say any album by the Dwarves - tasteless, but titles and images go together well, and I aint posting any pics here! Cradle of Filth also comes to mind, but more for their excellent t-shirts!

regards,

Giles
