Component cable from DVD5 to TV without HDMI connection.

My Naim dealer told me that the DVD5 gives the best quality picture when sending the signal through component video. I assume that this is the the 3 RCA to RCA connectors found on the back of the DVD5 and on most modern TVs. Anybody any recommendations of good brands of cable for use between DVD5 and a Sony LCD TV?

DVI/HDMI is highest digital picture quality
RGB HV/YPbPr HV is highest analogue picture quality (5 wire)
RGB/YPbPr is next highest quality (3 wire)

Dear Geoff,
I would recommend the
Van den Hul Compolink I use this cable between my Arcam DV88 plus and my parent's Panasonic plasma screen. Does your Sony LCD tv have a DVI or HDMI input? if so, you are better off buying a DVI-DVI or DVI-HDMI cable.

Geoff,
Component it it is, though you will find they are BNC not RCA. You will find a complement of 5 of them on the back of the DVD5.
Check out what your tv will accept, 3 or 5.
Speak nicely to Naim dealers & you may be surprised to find you can obtain real Naim ones.... at least I am lead to beleive this!
Chord also do fine examples. Check the length you need carefully as they aint cheap! Also check what connections the tv / panel accepts, some are RCA some are BNC.
Good Luck & happy watching.

Big big question : will the scaling card work with RGB HV ?

I already had an HDMI cable connected between DVD5 and Loewe A26. Also tried it with Component RGB (just 3 wire). Based on one viewing of one DVD ( Gotterdamerung) not a lot of difference, so I guess component is the way to go on another DVD5 which is connected to a Sony TV without an HDMI connection. When External scaler is available I guess then it will definitely be worth using HDMI connection betweeen DVD5 and TV?
Roll on the arrival of the sky HD box to see what it delivers.

I believe RGBHV is the best way to go if your TV supports it.
Unluckily, I also believe most DVD's will turn this output off because of the quality of the output - Naim, along with everyone else has to obey the DVD forums rules on flags set on the DVD.
Of course, you can just rip the DVD to remove the protection to allow you to do use RGBHV but that will take quite a lot of effort.
Naim do a good video cable but it's not exactly cheap.
Steve.
