102 Mystery

Posted by: David Patterson on 15 April 2003

Hi all,
Can anyone explain this to me. Been on a day off today Smile and played a few CDs through the day while my wife was out with the kids(supposed to decorating the hall), any way
came to put one final one on tonight ,fired up the CDI and no sound (volume had not been touched) Scanned all the boxes and noticed there was no illumination on any of the switches on the 102 (Naim logo still lit)
Checked the Napsc its on,I pressed one of the inputs (not the one the CD is through which happens to be tuner) and it came back to life, with no thump thank God. Pressed tuner and the sound came back.
I cannot extinguish the input light with the remote so what happened.

I get paranoid about things like this but i am sure the sound was not up to its usual after it came on again.Could the digital circutry have been off.

Any thoughts anyone .BTW its never happened before.

a static dicharge from a person touching a piece of audio gear can lock up the microprocessor of a Naim pre amp....since there is a common ground from one piece of gear to the next it could be sent from the case of the cd player to the pre-amp....would be my guess

Unplugg your NAPSC from the 102, wait 1 minute and plug it again. The remote should work again. Unplug your speakers before doing it.
