Muchachos

Just ordered an iPhone ( for work, ha ha! )and I see that its possible to buy a teeny FM transmitter so that music can be played via the car radio.

Has anyone done this? Does it sound any good? And can it be done by Bluetooth?

TIA

I used to do this with my 2G iPod a few years ago and it's fine as long as you don't travel too far. You normally have to select a free FM band, but as you travel further, you find that some local radio is using that band, and you have to retune.
I gave up in the end.
Bluetooth works as an alternative if you have it built in to the car - I have a Parrot (in a manner of speaking)

I have had two of these things over the years for my ipod and have found them to be poor at best. They do not sound great and if you live anywhere with lots of fm activity then it is hard to find a frequency to broadcast on for yourself.

Personally I would not bother.

I bought the TomTom cradle for my iPhone, along with better GPS reception, it gives you a bluetooth handsfree kit, and a 3.5mm line out for audio to connect into a stereo!

Not bad for just under £100, mind you the TomTom navigation software is extra.

Can't you just do what any sensible person does and drive a car that has a built-in iPod connection?

Miss C's iPod works fine in the Reventón, though I expect you could get something like a little Audi for under 50k if needs must.
