NAC82 connection to AV2

I want to connect my NAC82 to my AV2 and noticed in the manual that you can connect from a NAIT5 AV socket to AV2 analogue input 3.
My question is there an equivalent socket to connect from the NAC82, so I can use this as a better preamp
Also, do all new preamps have the AV socket ?

You can connect the Av2 to your 82, but it doesn't have a specialized "unity gain AV input" as all new preamp.
This input by-pass the preamp volume control, so as to let the AV2 be the only operational volume controler.
If you want to use an 82, you will have to set its volume control at 12 o'clock and do your AV balance with the AV2. Don't forget to reset the 82 volume at a reasonable level when you play a CD (around 9 o'clock).
A mod was said to be available but i'm not sure it is actually and if it is, it should be quite expensive. If this feature is really important for you, you should change for an 282 or better, upgrade to a 252 (your CDS2 deserve it).

the unity gain mod is available your 82 will have to go back to naim
i paid £130 to have my 52 done
however you will lose 1 tape input

I know it is available for a 52 (you are a proof), but not sure for the 82. Anyone knows?

A Unity Gain upgrade is available for the NAC102, 82 & 52. Units need to be returned to Naim to have the work done and it will mean replacing one of the tape loops with a dedicated AV input.

Thanks to all for their replies, this has now opened up my upgrade options further as I did not appreciate that it could be retro fitted to existing kit, I thought the NAC202 linked to the AV2 was my limit !

I want to keep all my kit in one room for music and av whilst not compromising the music quality and then I run speaker cables into a second room using a 2-way speaker switch to control the output. It works well at present but the addition of unity gain on the new preamps 282 upwards would be ideal. I don't relish using 2 volume controls for the 82 option Emmanuel, thanks for the advise though !!, I may experiment.
