clarifying a collection

Lots of things are changing for both me and my wife musically these days. We can't listen for as long, and there are some hearing problems, but a lot more music is making its' way into our brains and hearts than has happened.
The turntable is getting a service, which is to be a downgrade. The music we listen to is on cd.
In November, a new cd player will make its' way into the system. It will not be a Naim.
And we are seeing into the soul of our preferences. Tonight, we listened to Gardiner/ORR do Beethoven's 3rd Symphony "Eroica". Most orchestras have passable rhythm, from any time. These guys have better rhythm than any other orchestra in my experience. Others sound clumsy. All others. It's really that good.
Rhythm is one of the ways Beethoven pushes past Mozart in making his music compelling and contagious. It's nice to hear it done correctly.
