4.5K to spend on Naim CD player? - Food for thought.

With this money you could buy a CDX/XPS and most forees would. But you could also buy a CDS II head unit and a second hand CDPS.

The latter combination sounds much better.

For 3.5 K you could buy a second hand CDS2 and XPS and still have enough out of the 4.5K to buy a FRAIM base and shelf to house it!

But I was making a point about how good the CDS2/CDPS combination was relative to CDX/CDX, rather than discussing second hand values.

Worthwhile point.

Now, if I had 2K to spend on XPS for my CDX would I be better getting CDPS and second hand 82 + Hicap (from 102) or the XPS.

Because I am one (at the price) - Matthew go listen if you can - I think you'd prefer the former.

CDX/XPS = Sierra Cosworth

CDS2/CDPS = Bentley Turbo

Which would you prefer?

To clarify (gobbledygookishly):

My main point is how far ahead of a CDX is a CDS2 rather than how little behind an XPS is a CDPS.

Possibly in the future but the next step is to build a hifi rack which should keep me amused for a while.

Going for the hardwood and glass with various decoupling methods using as little ferrous material as possible. Probably sound terrible but will look good, and definitley unique!

May try and get some pictures done when it is complete (probably in a couple of months if ever!) although could get in trouble with various design patents if I do big grin big grin big grin big grin big grin big grin big grin big grin.

Upgrades to come later!
