Naim AV1

I keep seeing AV1's cropping up all over the place for what seems to be peanuts. I know it's been replaced by the all-singing, all-dancing AV2, but I'd like to know where the AV1 fits in the grand scheme of things.
I can't seem to find manuals/connectivity diagrams or any other documentation. Do any of you guys have an AV1? How does it work/sound/connect up, and what else is needed to get an AV system based around this up and running?
