Dr Who, last episode.

Well that has made my weekend!! Real class from the beeb. Almost worth the licence fee on its own. Mind you, 2 bottles of Duvel may have helped!

Speaking as someone who very nearly got rid of the TV last year I have to say I'm glad I changed my mind.

Awsome series. I don't think I've looked forward to a program so much since I was a kid looking forward to the next episode of Thunderbirds.

Lots of grinning and a good few chuckles. I liked the of the EMH ripoff from Janeway and way Rose exited the Tardis and gave our tin friends a good thrashing - very Raiders of the Lost Arc.

Lots of fun.

Agreed, a great finale. Will miss the Eccleston/Piper pairing though.

Cheers,

As the episode approached the end I thought something like this: "It's been a fantastic episode, so how can they mess up the ending? I know - they'll do the Doctor's metamorphosis with updated seventies-style tweening - some stupid idea of continuity..."

"Where was I? Oh yes, Barcelona" really made me smile.

Yes, the series has been an outstanding success. Somebody in the Beeb deserves a pat on the back for this. Sorry to see Eccleston going though.

Nearly fell off my chair at Ann Droid shouting "You are the weakest link. Goodbye" as she zapped a few Daleks.

Most of this series seemed very good. Its positioning as just about only decent UK terrestrial Saturday-evening TV broadcast helped.

There's a distinct hole in the story there. The zapping only sent "the zapped" to another place. Does that mean they can drag a couple Daleks back at the first sign of falling viewing figures? Or did the Time Goddess Rose wipe them all out? We should be told! Smile

When Rose was "zapped" by the Anne-Droid, she was sent to the Dalek mother ship, so I guess the Daleks were too.

You're right! Thank goodness somebody was paying attention! Smile

Anne droid was teleporting the contestants away. Jack and the Doctor had set up a field to prevent the daleks "beaming" on to the space station. So where did they go?

I could have coped with Ecclestone on his own. Piper was the worst ever assistant and was for too big for her boots. The story lines were cheesy and as for belching wheely bins and farting aliens, what can I say.

In this post StarWars/Star Trek/Babylon 5/Andromeda world, you have to admit the Dr Who series was naff.

Well I can only hope that it improves with the arrival of Cassinova and the pending departure of piper. You have to wonder about a Dr Who who leaves because he didn't want to be typecast and an assistant who wants to leave to persue an acting career - though lord knows why - the belching wheely bins had more acting ability than Piper.

Then again I found I had a strange facsination with the series and I ended up watching it each week to find out if it could get any better (or worse).

Each to their own.

I think someone is missing the point of Dr Who and its target audience....
As for StarWars/Star Trek/Babylon 5/Andromeda, blaaaaarp!

I think there are many folk who would do no such thing. Many more folk regard it as having been an outstanding success, with Eccleston and Piper having made a great team. Each to his own though.

Of course it was naff - it's supposed to be! That's one of the the premices. But what magnificant naffness! Outstanding. And good to see the principals quitting while they're ahead.

What a pity 'adult drama' falls so far short.

Star Wars and Star Trek are in general good (excluding the terrible Voyager series) but Babylon 5 was crap and Andromeda outstanding only for it's awfulness.

If we all liked the same things on the box there would only be the need for one channel. Its as well we all have different tastes - that's what brings variety into life.

Lexa Doig is far better looking than Billy Piper in my book.

Shows how we're all different. I'd say Babylon 5 was the best ever piece of TV SF. Yes it had its difficult moments and the CGI effects, then in their very early days for TV at least didn't always cut it, but I'll never forget how I felt when the arc storyline started to emerge. I found it the most thrilling piece of TV ever.

Agreed.

I've just re-watched seasons 1-5 and it still sent a shiver down my spine!

And Dr Who was very entertaining. Not perfect, not as good a drama as stuff like the X-Files, B5 and the new Galactica, but good fun.

And two men kissing at 7:30 on a saturday on BBC1! Is that a first?

I haven't met anyone who didn't think that Andromeda wasn't risible rubbish.

Yet it went on for about a hundred seasons

Why oh why?

Confused

Stephen,

My name is Brad. I am pleased to meet you. I quite enjoy Andromeda and look forward to Wednesday evenings with far greater relish than Saturdays with Dr Who.

Now you have met someone who does not think Andromeda is risible rubbish Big Grin
