ZZ Top Live at Brixton!

All
For all my sins I am a ZZ fan, especially the early blues stuff. (some of the latter stuff am not 100% keen on,but hey!)

Well they played Brixton academy and they were fantastic. Unfortunately I was standing at the side and the sound was very very average.

Good choice of songs and well executed, although I could never hear Dusty's bass properly. Highlights of the night for me were 'waitin for the bus/Jesus just left Chicago'..'Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers', CHeap Sunglasses and a new song 'Butt Naked' ..that was funny as hell.

Billy G's guitar playing had improved loads since I saw them last. Lots of humour and great sparkling outfits in the fine 'Texan Tradition'..

If you like loud raw rock/blues with classic guitar then these boys still cut the beef! Yeah and I was playing air guitar along with every other 25- 50 yrd old guys..Funny though, that the Top are probably older than the audience!

Cheers

Saw them some years ago when they were headlining at Donnington.

Didn't really expect them to be headlining material...soon changed my mind when they started playing ! Brilliant !!!

All the expected favourites plus some more unusual stuff such as a 60's compilation set.

They really got the entire crowd rocking along !(You just couldn't help it,the music was just so damned infectious).

The trouble with being a ZZ Top fan is that many people only know Eliminator and subsequent output. In my book Billy Gibbons is up there with Stevie Ray Vaughan et al - find a copy of Tejas and listen to Ten Dollar Man, it raises the hairs on the back of my neck every time.

I knew they were over this summer but couldn't get to see them live, I keep meaning to buy the OGWT DVD for the studio clip of Cheap Sunglasses.
