MFSL CD'S

Posted by: Right Wing on 10 May 2007

I recently bought SD Gaucho on mfsl for about £25 on ebay, I am wondering if anyone else has this and any other albums on mfsl.

I have a few other copies of gaucho but I do not really like the sound quality, the remaster is very tiring - I am hoping that the mfsl version will be better?

Can anyone recommend any other titles on mfsl?

Regards

Is anyone having the Gold Anniversary Edition of Neil Young. Its a little Box containing Harvest and Harvest moon, released from Warner Australia. I like that.

I bought the Harvest Moon part off a seller from Australia and didn't know there was a box set. I have BMG club version of the same disc from the States which IMHO sounds better. I have Harvest as a German target disc and it sound great.

Did you know that WB had a practice of spraying the discs gold instead of actually issuing 24k gold discs such as MFSL. It was a cheaper option.

I have a gold version of Jackson Brownes- Runnin on Empty that was done this way.

Mail from USA can take any thing from a week to 4 weeks. I just got a CD off E-Bay posted 14/05 arrived today 2/06. A general rule is wait 14 working days and then contact seller.

It's really annoying to wait though isn't it.The major downside of internet buying IMO.

Same with me. That is the one thing I hate about the internet. I won a UK auction on ebay recently and I got discs in from the States I had won in auctions 3 days later earlier. So the delay can happen to even discs coming in from the UK. That bugged me rotten.

I have also had more discs lost in the post here than coming from the states.

Interesting and very worrying. As you say and other forum members it can be very fustrating.

I am still waiting for an order from the MFSL site on 10th May 20007!! Hope there is no problems on my first order from this company.

I emailed them on Friday and no response so far. As other members have said it could be up to 3-4 weeks. I suppose I will just have to wait.

To be honest I can't say as the disc I used to have was UD1 and my friends is also the same. So that is the only version I have haerd.

A few people say you can hear a difference.

The reason for the UD1 and 2 discs is that MFSL used to press their stuff in Japan at a Sanyo plant and apparently it was costly. So they moved the pressing to a Sanyo plant in the States and thats why you get UD2's.

I am glad you are enjoying it. Of course you are making me jealous and I now will have to purchase one.

On what date you actually buy it Jim?

I bought the "Marc Cohn" on 14th May. I have sent them an email but have had no reply.
I will ring tomorrow to see if MFSL has debited my card.

What do you think? More concerning is that they have not responded to my email.

I would think it will be with you anyday now. Assuming they posted it on the 16th or 17th. Sometimes certain sites only check emails every so often usually because they don't normally get any. I hear you ask then why have a contact email address -can't answer that.

I got my copy of Marc Cohn from Amazon (Caiman) and it arrived in just over a week.

I ordered Imagine and Were only in it for the money on May 5th and received them today. Email queries are very slowly answered.

A quick listen though and Imagine sounds stunning. ( I notice it is remixed as well as getting the MOFI treatment)

I went to get more today and they wanted to charge me $134 postage! (instead of $14)

think I'll try here in future

Personally I would recommend the seller jonifan on ebay re getting your MFSL discs. He sells them a good prices and his shipping ain't too expensive.

I notice that the Little Feat first disc and Allman Brothers discs have been put back. Allmans is supposedly now due in August and the Little Feat in September.

Good to see you got your copy. How's it sounding? I am still waiting for mine. It turns out MFSL were waiting for my response on which delivery times I wanted, ie cost. There are numerous shipping costs for quicker/longer delivery times. This was my first order with them so now I know!!

Thanks for the tip ewemon, his shop looks a good bet for MFSL cd's.

Jim the Marc Cohn disc sounds amazing compared to the standard release I had from the US.

I am finding that the Mobile Fidelity discs have none of the nasties present in so many of the new digital remasters... especially recent ones. They really show what a quality Naim system is capable of.
Posted on: 13 June 2007 by Michael
Has anyone tried any of the current MFSL Hybrid SACD discs on Naim systems...if so how do they sound.

It is my experience the hybrids from other sources are inferior in normal CD mode than conventional CD's.

Just pre-ordered the Linda Ronstadt disc on Amazon UK post free. Good price. Available 26th June.
