Microsoft HDCD?

Posted by: Tony L on 30 November 2001

Check out www.hdcd.com - what was once simply HDCD is now "Microsoft HDCD, a Windows Media Technology."...

Does this mean that my Naim (Microsoft?) CDX will now take ages to boot up, be prone to ludicrously simplistic virus attacks, frequently crash, and be obsolete in a year?

Scary stuff.

Tony.

Who is dreading "180 gram vinyl, A Microsoft Windows Media Technology.", or "Freshly baked bread, A Microsoft Windows Media Technology.".

Yea and in a year they will be bundling free Microsoft branded CDX players to stiffle the compitition, then they will say sorry and promise to put lots of money into stereo education provided you use windows.

When were they bought then? It says on the bottom of the site front page:

Blimey who's next?

Well, the obsolete bit is probably correct. The digital filter that the CDS-2 and CDX uses is no longer produced. I would hope that Naim have bought a load when the 'last buy' notice went out. Otherwise, its re-design time for these two players.

Already sorted. (The current part is a PMD-200 filter chip in various packages, very much in production.)

Not to mention "Active Automotive Safety©, A Microsoft Windows© Driven Technology".

System crash suddenly takes on a whole new meaning.

Does this mean that the CDX/CDS remotes will have to come with 'control/alt/delete' keys and a command for 'End Program'?
