Anthony & the Johnsons...

I have posted here before of my appreciation of 'I am a bird now' album but I hadn't really listened to the wowlbum the debut wowlbum which precedes 'bird'.

I am speechless in stunned silence at the emotional depth of the wowlbum and the laser beam insight which infuses the wowlbum.

I believe that I was the first to alert the Naim community to Antony's sublime singing rather a long time ago.

But, please, what is a "wowlbum", mentioned twice in your post? (Rather an unfortunate word, when applied to an openly homosexual singer, I think.)

I agree, the depth and emotion from Anthony on this album (I Am A Bird Now) is not often heard from a male singer and his playing of piano is very good, with weight, depth and emotion also.
While this album is not for everyone, give it a listen and you will here why Anthony got the Mercury award for artist of the year.

Absolutely agree. It is a very original and special album and for me signifies what the Mercury promotes.

Graham,

a wowlbum was a phrase coined by mark and lard on radio 1 and intended to indicate an album that is wonderful.
