Headline connections??

Posted by: bigtrak on 30 October 2003

Hi
I have just bought a secondhand Headline and Snaps that I want to add to my present system - CD2/NAC72/NAP250/HiCAP
The Headline Has 2 cables coming out of it. One is a 5 pin din which I am assuming connects to my preamp the other is a 4 pin Din (connected to the Headline via a 2 pin connection)
Can anybody tell me where and to which socket I connect these 2 cables? Also do I need to switch the Power amp off?
thanks in advance for your time

Switch it all off when you plug things in!

As for the connections, one should be the SLIC lead - you can easily tell because you can unplug it from the headline and it has a mere 2 connections at this end - power and earth. If you are lucky, there will be a 4 pin din at the end of the slic lead. Plug this into your SNAPS.

The "captive" lead (ie the one you can't disconnect) is for the music. Plug this into the tape input of your pre-amp.

If you have any problems - send me a PM.

I found that it sounded very disappointing until everything had warmed up, then it sounded lush. But I suppose that's the case for with most naim gear.

Hi
thanks for replying.
I've done what you said but it doesn't seem to be working.
I can hear it very very faintly. Do I need some kind link plug for the snaps as this is very reminiscent of when I had a NAC 32.5 without a Hicap and forgot to plug in the link plug.
I look forward to your reply.
Thanks
