Nero, have you got the new software on your HDX then? When did you get it?
Posted on: 18 December 2009 by gone
'only' the beta software, but it seems pretty solid so far - lots of improvements (documented elsewhere) and if I'm not mistaken, a slight audible improvement too, but that's probably placebo.

I don't know if we are supposed to post findings here, but the mods can always delete if they want to.

The iPhone app is very slick and intuitive, and if only the HDX had a mute and volume control, I could clear up my sofa completely.
For what it's worth, I think Naim are right to have delayed this update - they have to get the process rock-solid to avoid too many people turning their HDX's into boat anchors during the upgrade. It took me over 24 hours to backup my music just in case Eek

Any more beta blockers out there?

Nice one! Can you post other pics of the application open? Looking forward to you guys giving the feedback to Naim so I can get the new software. Cheers

Where did you get the Naim app?
Posted on: 18 December 2009 by gone
it came as part of the beta install package - not sure how Naim plan to distribute it eventually (AppStore?) or even if they will charge for it (I hope not)
Pix later when I have overcome my embarrassment of taking pictures of an iPhone in front of SWMBO Smile

I have been on the beta test programme too.
I hope Naim don'tmind me saying:

The upgrade worked a treat.- No problems whatsoever.
The HDX Remote App - Really Cool

Bring it On NAIM!!!!!!

Nero,

You can take screen shots on the iPhone while holding down power button, then clicking home button, then release power button. you can then email to yourself and upload picture on hosting site.

It will take a nice clean screen shot without having to hold the phone and take picture with a camera.

That is awesome! Will there be an Naim app for the Uniti?
Posted on: 19 December 2009 by gone
Methinks Patrick spends too much time at www.tipsandtricksforyouriphone.com - good call!
I have to start with the ubiquitous DSOM

Actually, the UI is very similar to the iPod Touch

Sweet. Very much looking forward to having this.

I think the iTunes Remote app has little album art thumbnails on the left side of the album titles. I wonder if that will come in the future for those of us more visually oriented during searches.

A search for HDX in iTunes Store will return "your search has no results", but right below is Developers: Naim Audio LTD. So I think soon we will see this app in the iTunes Store. Can't wait to have it Cool

No it doesn't. HTH

I had the chance the other day to use the iPhone/Touch app that can be used to control the KlimaxDS - Songbook? The advantage of the Naim app, as far as I can see, is that you don't have to create a playlist (not a feature I use anyway). Otherwise as AllenB says, the functionality is very similar to most audio remote apps on iPod Touch, and in the few weeks I've been using it, it's very stable. The only problem I've had is that if you leave the app running, so the ihone goes into standby, when it wakes up again, it doesn't always find the HDX. Quickly fixed by restarting the app.

Thanks, do you know if the app will work on 2nd generation ipod touch?

Is this a Naim written application, or a OEM of an existing application ?

Thanks,
Roy.

The Naim HDX App has been submitted to Apple for verification and will be available on the App store at the same time as the new HDX software is released, we had ten Beta testers of App and software over Christmas, all went well

Steven, that's great news.
Can you confirm whether the initial iPhone app will also allow control of a Uniti?
Thanks,
Johm

Yes, there will be an App for the Uniti family:
(I am also interested in that...)
From :http://www.naimaudio.com/unitiqute

Easy access to your music

Bringing everything audio, digital and analogue together is one thing, but making it all work seamlessly together is something else entirely. UnitiQute is controlled by a dedicated remote handset in combination with a large, clear display. The UnitiQute user interface borrows the principles of intuition and accessibility, and much of the substance, from the already proven NaimUniti interface. The interface is clear, intuitive, uncluttered and makes light work of access to UnitiQute’s remarkable versatility and performance. And an iPhone/iPod Touch Uniti control App, expected early in 2010 will enhance the UnitiQute experience still further and raise its brilliance yet another notch.

No it will not. That's 2 different apps.
Posted on: 23 January 2010 by David Dever
Actually, there's at least four:

forthcoming app for local playback control of HDX / NS-Series servers

iLinX for control of DigiLinX / NaimNet (including streams from HDX / NS-Series)

PlugPlayer and/or SongBook for control of UPnP streams (NaimUniti / UnitiQute)

forthcoming app for control of NaimUniti / UnitiQute

Can anyone please post a screen shot of the artist search? Or confirm if it is the same as the album search with the alphabet down the right side?

I assume so.....

These apps are amazing.
Posted on: 23 January 2010 by gone
You assume correct - sorry if I can't be bothered to post a screen grab
Cheers (hic)
