CD vs HD

Posted by: JeremyB on 31 October 2008

Has anyone got one of the new Naim HD discs and compared to the CD yet.

Sorry if this should be in the other forum but I can't bear to be deluged with another boring where's the Naim DAC, Lavry blah blah blah discussion.

I'm really interested if anyone finds the HD version adds to their musical enjoyment/appreciation eg of the recent Mozart Seranades release.

Oh well, couldn't resist and went ahead and ordered anyway. Would still be interested to know as I still don't have a HDX or whatever to play it on yet. What a great idea for a format.

Thanks Jeremy!
Yes it is an interesting comparison for those who are interested! For anyone interested, these 24bit data discs with hi res WAV files (+ audio cd) are the Tim Hugh, principle cellist of the LSO (Live for Wigmore Hall) - 20% goes to the British Heart Foundation - & Royal Phil playing Mozart Wind Serenades. Please look at the website for details: www.thenaimlabel.com

You can buy the either product here:

RPO - Mozart WInd Serenades No 12 & No 10

The Tim Hugh disc is a real favourite of mine. Although I'm sure those of you who analyse the hell out of frequency spectrums will see a negligable difference, I find the fluidity and depth of sound in both the ambience of the hall and resonance of the cello body itself fascinating.

They are a special edition (limited to 1000 copies each) to celebrate the launch of our Naim Classical label! Smile
