Query on Board Pulling

Posted by: Madrid on 18 November 2002

I have read various posts on this forum on the sonic advantages of pulling phone section boards. I understood that pulling the 322 or 323 boards on a NAC 72 accomplished this.

Thus, I found a 4 mm allen wrench and duly opened up my trusty 72 (circa 1994). Lo and behold, I found the following boards:

321/5
324/7
325/7
729/1

Neither a 322 nor 323 amoung them!

Any advice from more enlightened members of this forum would be most appreciated.

Cheers,

Steven

Hi Steven

Don't know about the board numbers, but especially with the 72 preamps there may be more disadvantages than advantages, when pulling any boards. I have a 72 and have made the experiment: it sounds noticeably harsh, when removing the tape boards. Maybe this can help further: http://forums.naim-audio.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=67019385&f=48019385&m=2101990373
