Hi to those amongst you with mouth watering Naim equipment (the full 500 series)...
What is the most audiophile album you have heard on your system??

Jon (with a mid-range Naim)

oh that's great, I saw that in a theater when it came out. 2 friends with me. I was stupified by the end. One guy was amazed like me, the other went ballistic. LOL
It was quite a scene Alex put on. He didn't like surprises I guess. Never could go with the flow. After that James and I had a beer and laughed and laughed about that explosion, and we had an amazing conversation about the impact of man on the planet. After they both had passed around '90 I got my Masters in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning. But, Art and Music are my passion.

Just couldn't resist running and popping this on:
Not as impressive as I expected actually I don't think Naim brings out the best - ahem - all-round sound from this one. Although towards the end of side one there is a good bit where some riffs are played starting with what sounds like spoons but is actually a tambourine.

I don't bother with audiophile recordings.
What's neat about 500 series system is that they don't make bad recording sound worse.
If anything, the biggest strength is it brings more enjoyment out of ALL records.

Fair point, but can I say the reason why I asked this question and directed it at 500 series owners is because comparative to any system below it reveals more detail.
For that reason, the extraneous factors of lesser quality systems don't come into play and the music is allowed to be compared against itself.
Many thanks so far!

Jon,
A good replay sometimes do not rely on how much details you can extract from a media.
An audiophile Cd/record played on most hi-end audiophile equipment does not make a bad performance any better.
True that 500 system gives you more details than their lesser kit, but the details and resolution is what ultimately listener wants, he/she can do better elsewhere than Naim.
It's how those details are played out is what matters. ( to me anyways )

I think this thread is cute. JATP is all I have though, apart from a few Prof Johnson but they are actually more aligned to Naim strengths anyway.
My impression is that Audiophile recordings including JATPS unfortunately are more concerned about sound artifacts than music - clinking glasses, background chatting etc. Maybe this means that simple systems like this designed to replay music are better at music and worse at the sound artifacts.
