Small sub around £400-£500

I have a naim system which I currently use for music and am very happy. I want to purchase a sub for home cinema use but do not have the funds (or the room) for a naim sub. As the room is relativately small I was thinking of either the M&K KX10-SF or the SVS-PB12 plus. I will use my Credo's as the front speakers. Has anyone used any of these sub's or can you recomend a good small sub for mainly home cinema.

Thanks Daryl. The Quake is one of the subs I was planning to take a look at. As I currently do not have a sub I have directed the sound through the Credo's. My concern with the Quake and the M&K is that I would not notice much difference from the current set up. My thinking abount the SVS was it had a 12 inch driver. I will try and listern to them all.

Hi Bails,
I'm not familiar with the SVS, but the KX10 is an excellent little sub - don't get carried away with the size of the drive unit -if it's a small room, you are better putting in a smaller sub with a nice fast amp unit behind it - you'll get a much tighter bass and less wallow. The M&K should suit nicely and it's exceptionally good value!

Take at look at the Epos ELS sub which is well within budget.

Thnaks for the info. Do you have a M&K? My only concern with the M&K was that the driver size was the same as my Credo's. As my processor sends the subs sounds to the Credo's at present I was unsure if I would hear much of a difference when I added a small sub such as the M&K.

I have not concidered either the BK or Epos subs. Will check out their web sites as I do not know much about these makes.

This is one of the subs I was originally looking at. I have read some good reviews. But then again other reviews agree with Von Zipper that a smaller driver gives a tighter bass. My problem seems to be what path to go down??

A smaller driver have to move further up and down to move the same amount of air.
Only people who havent heard a nice, large sub tend to say this.
I have a Bag End Infra-18. 18" driver in a sealed cabinet. Extended Low Freqency(ELF-technology) Tight as anything. Most articulated sub I've heard, at any price.
Anyways, if I was you, i would have bought two BK Gemini subs for £200 each. With two subwoofers, you will get much better in-room response.

I use the MJ Acoustics Reference 100 MKii. I think it's excellent.
