Fredrik Ruins His Moka Pot!

Among the few pleasures of life I can still enjoy (music excepted, of course), is a really strong Columbain (Co op Fairtrade is my current brew) coffee serves me well.

This week my venerable pot received the ignomony of being baked to death as I poured the second visciously strong mug (I beleive refianed [deliberate spelling, which is sic]people use small cups!) and forgot to turn the plate off as I answered a call that lasted over an hour. Today I got a nice new pot, as I don't care if I can afford next week's baked beans!

Soon to try the new beast out! Following four bottles of the finest Polish beer. I have a medical in the morning, and here's to hoping I fail! and the Poles call Norwegian beer (about 3 per centum), gay beer!

Dear Friends,

Really nice toast is made on an Aga plate in one of those round wire toasters. I gets a very different texture to using an electric toaster.

With boiled eggs on a Sunday morning, and the specified home made marmalade (with Welsh butter) it made for a very special meal indeed.

I agree, but would add that burned fingers and/or toast are not infrequent hazards of adopting the Aga route.

Now we're talking about how to best make toast!! Anyone would think we haven't anything better to do.

It's a multi-faceted discussion, covering not just toast, but also marmalade and coffee. Soon we will progress to such issues as the semiology of cereal packets, and how green tea can cause the lame to walk, the blind to see, and the dead to walk.

Then someone will ask if anyone's tried using the HiLine to connect up their electric kettle.

Surely on the source first basis, the kettle is the most important part in making tea. Therefore the optimal inter-connect may well be good advice. [Smiley]. Fredrik

PS: Off to work now, so I probably have something worse and less pleasaat ot do for a while...
