Can anyone recommend a good Erik Satie CD. I bought a cheap Sony sampler disc yesterday that's less than great.

Indeed a lovely composer capable of the best and the worst. Much of his works are pure throwaway, as he didn't take his work as seriously as others did. Nevertheless, Aldo Ciccolini's accounts on EMI are mostly excellent, also in terms of choice - there is some kind of "compilation" on CD which I can warmly recommend.
Reminds me of happy days ...

"The Minimalism of Eric Satie" by the Vienna Art Orchestra is a wonderful record.
