I thought it may be useful to other members if there was place that we could let one and other know about service we have had that either pleased us or otherwise.
In the past week or so i have had excellent service from Nevada Bobs Golf chain, after buying a new shirt from them i managed to get a "pull" in the thread, whilst i was ther buying something else i mentioned what i had don, without even checking the date on their till to see if i had only had it 3 weeks they offered to swap it for another one from the new range for the same amount, fantastic service.
On the flip side i sent an alloy wheel off to AWR in Bury Lancs ( alloy wheel refurbishment ) well 3 wheels, 1 came back ok and the other 2 were worse than when they went in, when i asked if they could be done again, i was told "that's as good as i can do, have your money back".
Fair enough i got my money back but it cost me 3 round trips of 50 miles each trip and it will now cost more to fix than i got back. The reason i went so far was due to their website, their only business is alloy wheel refurb's so who better than they?
Any-hoo, you live and you learn.

Orange Great service for my mobile for years and years. Wouldn't dream of changing.
Harveys Brewery Sussex Ale always superb, and a huge range of equally great proper beers.
Shepherd Neame Bishops Finger in a bottle is always yummy, and if I can ever get it here on draught, heaven.
(Can you see a trend here?)
Jack Daniels I've never had a bad bottle.
Naim Audio Would I ever consider another make of hi-fi? What other makers of hi-fi?
Caiman USA CD's via Amazon from Caiman USA. Only ever had a problem once with a crackly CD, and they sent me another as replacement immediately and I didn't have to send the old one back either. Turned out the new one was the same; the crackle was on the recording!!! I wouldn't buy from anyone else.
ipod Okay it isn't a company, but would I consider a Creative MP3 player or some other? Nah...
Post Office A trip back to the 1950's with a queue of old people in thick overcoats in 85 degrees, all the way down the aisles and out the door, with a dreary grey person (man or woman) with lots of facial hair (with a long pingy one from a mole) and a cardigan behind a little glass screen with stickers all over it, working very, very slowly, and it's going to take me at least 30 minutes to wait here just to get a car tax disc. And then they wonder why they are losing business and have to close up because everyone is finding ways to avoid them. On top of that, they lose your parcels, and there is nothing you can do about it. Roll Eyes

So...mostly good then.

Getting your tax disc online is a brilliant way to avoid long queues at Post Offices! The service has been excellent and I have always received my disc within a few days.

GOOD SERVICE
Trevor J James & Co. Manufacturer of woodwind instruments. I sent my wife's flute back there, as it was very difficult to tune the instrument to exact concert pitch. Within a day, I had a phone call from them. They diagnosed a dodgy headjoint that wasn't playing very well, and were most apologetic about it. They're sending a replacement, and if my wife still isn't satisfied with it, they'll continue to send replacements until she is. They're obviously a company who take pride in what they produce, much like Naim!

Happy

Martin-Kleiser Beaconsfield. Hifi shop par excellence.
John Lewis - A lesson in good customer service

Adequate

Virgin Atlantic - Nowhere near as good as they would believe they are
Orange broadband - Average prices, flaky line integrity, and vague technical support

Appalling

ADT Alarms - A company that thinks it can downgrade its service contract and increase prices by 150% in one hit and get away with it.
First Great Western - Words have not yet been invented to describe this shambles of a train company. They should move their headquarters from Swindon to Dodge City - a more fitting location for a bunch of cowboys. Paying their season ticket prices is akin to being mugged but without the violence.

Screwfix. Ordered a power shower. Plumber insalled it two months later. About 4.00pm on day of fixing the pump found to be faulty. I phoned Screfix and a complete new shower kit arrived by 9.00am next day for fixing. A few days later they arranged collection of faulty unit. That is service.

John Lewis. Yes always reliable.

Averys Wine. Never a dud bottle.

Lands' End clothing. Just to see what would happen, I once returned a well warn item which split a seem six years after perchase. They replaced it.
