Dali Grand Coupe with Naim 250/135's

Posted by: MJSM on 12 November 2003

No doubt some of you will have looked at my other thread w.r.t. upgrading and speaker selection.

I have the chance of some Dali Grand Coupes at a fairly reasonable price and was wondering if anyone here had tried them in a similar configuration ???

I've got no chance to demo these, so am relying on someone elses experience here. Can anyone tell me how they compare to say SBL's/Briks/Linn (sorry) Keilidh's/Kabers etc etc.

All advice gratefully received.

Hi Mike,

I have tried them long time ago with 72/140 with good results. They are very good speakers, with allround strengths and no obvious weaknesses. They sound bigger than they are. Look nice too.

I liked them very much.

Cheers,

I heard them a number of times in "other" systems on demo in the shop. To me, they sounded superb. Vastly better than my early Kans that I was hoping to replace at the time. They have a unique silky quality that doesn't shout. Their greatest strength is in the subtle dynamics of of the singing voice. Simply breathtaking IMO and drop dead gorgeous to look at as well.
