Siouxsie & The Banshees-any fans?

As the title says, any fans other than me?
My favourite studio album is without question the practically perfect in every way 'Peepshow'(2007).
I also recommend 'The BBC Sessions','Downside up' and 'Voices on the air:The Peel Sessions' all on Spotify.

quote:Siouxsie and the Banshees were among the longest-lived and most successful acts to emerge from the London punk community. Throughout its numerous lineup changes and textural shifts, the group remained under the leadership of vocalist Siouxsie Sioux, born Susan Dallion on May 27, 1958

Ho yuss...
mate of mine saw them so much in the late 70s ( should have been at school ) that Siouxsie said come and work for us, its easier. Murray( Mitchell ) ended up playing guitar for them, I think.
The Scream is a stunning album; think back to the time it was released and the expectations Punks had... I still play it.
Kaleidoscope is an album I only discovered a couple of years ago, amazingly strong IMO.
AKITD brings back very fond memories of Francesca...

There must be some somewhere.quote:Siouxsie anf the Banshees - any fans
And to prove it, I'm one - the Scream is a really wonderful elpee - have a signed copy of the original vinyl release - a treasured item in my collection.

I liked them but found their output to be a bit patchy. The line up of Siouxsie Sioux, Steve Severin, John McGeoch and Budgie being the best IMO but my favourite track is Dear Prudence with Robert Smith in situ.
Bizarrely I have listened to a lot of Banshees stuff during the last couple of weeks. What odds on this thread popping up at the same time.
Regards,
Steve.

First band I ever saw, I was 16 y.o. Small gig at Durham Uni. She completely blew me away. Had a soft spot for them ever since. Really liked Kiss in the dreamhouse :-)

I own the Scream, Joint Hands and Kaleidoscope. This is god music, but I would not rate these records among my favorite records. They also sound harsh and thin.
I would rate “Cut” by the Slits far above. It is brilliant, funny and well recorded.

Yep. The Scream is my favourite also. Saw them at I believe Albert Hall with Robert Smith many years ago. Alos saw Siouxsie & Budgie at 100 club a few few years back. Stunning!!!

I'm also a big fan
Saw them 3 or 4 times in the early 80's - including one of the memorable Albert Hall shows (captured on album and DVD as Nocturne)
Still very fond of Kaleidascope, JuJu and Kiss in the dreamhouse
Coincidentally - I was listening to the tinderbox album (very under rated)on my run this morning
So not only many fans on the forum - but getting regular airplay

Ah, The Slits... "Shoplifting", with the tape picking up Ari saying, "I've p*ssed in my knickers... " plus a cracking version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine"
I think they're gigging again.

They are Mike, they're not that great though, I've seen them. Just Ari and Tessa, plus some kids (one of them Ari's daughter) no Viv or Budgie.
Viv is playing on her own (she occasionally plays with the reconstituted Slits) and she is very good. She is 56 soon and looks absolutely wonderful, ageless.
Back on topic - loved the Banshees, first saw them in 1980, many times after that. Fave LPs are "The Scream", "Ju Ju" and "Kaleidescope", plus the various Peel sessions and the singles from '78 to 81.
I thought they went off the boil a bit after about '83-84, with the odd exception, such as the magnificent "cities In Dust".

Like so many punk bands the albums are good but always just a notch below what they achieved on the sessions before being signed and making any records. I seem to remember both Peel and Walters acknowledged in an interview that the moment they recorded the sessions it was the beginning of the end.
