Hamilton

Little bit of an oops for Hamilton in Montreal today.
Ten grid spot penalty can't help how he's feeling about now...
Kimi's reaction was pretty funny I thought!Big Grin

I think you're wrong as well! The accident was not caused by a Ferrari being in the way, the accident was caused by Hamilton not spotting a red light. And in no way could I be described as a Ferrari fan! Rosberg also at fault

I think you are correct though in saying that the Ferrari lollipop guy should not have let Raikonen go - I don't know if there are any regulations for that - the problem was caused by Ferrari having the end garage so the lollipop guy could "get away with" allowing Raikonen to go when Kubica was alongside. If in any other garage there would have been an instant collision and there would have been penalties

I think it would have been interesting to see Raikonen race Kubica when the light changed to green, but they both spotted the red light, Hamilton didn't. If there had been a collision between them the stewards might have had an interesting job deciding whether to give Raikonen a penalty (depending on the circumstances

the accident was Hamilton's fault - it is his (and the other drivers') responsibility to take extra care in the pitlane as there are mechanics and other team members on foot.

Actually - I know, shall we just blame Mosley for reintroducing fuel pitstops?

NO, he was entitled to let Raikkonen go. The pit lane was wide enough, and if I remember correctly there were in fact 2 exit lanes marked out at the end of the pit lane so no problem was caused by that.

Oh well, we'll just have to agree to differ then...

I appreciate that Hamilton should have seen the red light and that if he had, he'd have probably won the race because Raikonnen would have been on the outside on the marbles and fallen off the track immediately outside the pits. Smile I still think the locaton of the lights doesn't really allow for a stream of cars. Is there an overhead light as well, like the ones at the start line? That would make sense. nobody could say they missed the lights then...

Nigel, are you a Ferrari fan by any chance?

Perhaps a return to the open cockpit and raised driver position of the '80s F1 car is needed here!
What would be nice to see is footage from Hamilton's car in the last few seconds.
Frank: 'What if' Kimi had broken down where he stopped and Kubica stopped where he did for the red light? Who would be to blame for Lewis not stopping then?
I'm a fan of Lewis and Ferrari......

No, if anything I support Hamilton but that does not go so far as to try to excuse his mistakes. Did not Hamilton actually agree he was to blame?

Tony,

Actually, in one of the re-runs ISTR having the view from either Hamilton's or Rosberg's rollbar mounted camera...and I missed the light!

Hamilton certainly did accept blame on his part. I just feel that he's overstated it and that others were partly to blame, particularly Ferrari.
