Software Update 1.6c for Unitiserve

Posted by: Prubast on 03 May 2012

Has anyone taken the plunge and updated their UnitiServe / Unitiserve SSD software to version 1.6c?

After downloading the update in order to burn it to DVD, I noticed that Naim have not provided any instructions for UnitiServe (Only HDX). I assume it is a matter of just inserting the disc, waiting a few miniutes and then switching off and on again?

I haven't tried it yet, but usually it's just as you described...

Anybody an overview of added functionality, bug fixes, etc??

Regards,

Michel

It may not be just as simple. First, you need to burn it on a CD, not DVD. Second, you need to burn a disk image with a ISO burner, not a data CD. Here is a discussion on the previous update.

It wasn't clear to me on Naim website, if this new "downloads" folder feature is restricted to new 2TB devices, or if it possible to get this feature on older devices with the software update. Has anybody an idea?

this is important for me because I find it awkward to pay so much money to a server device and than have to deal additionally with a NAS.

This update can be applied to older models too.

My SSD version which was once a 2x400gb version is now running 1.6c fine.

Don't forget Windows 7 users, put a writeable CD in your PC, just right click on the Naim downloaded ISO file then click 'Burn disc image'... so much simpler than XP & Nero & stuff.  (all due respect to Mac users, but there I don't have a clue, I'm afraid...  but it's got to be even easier than Windows, hasn't it?)

Now... what exactly does 1.6c give us?

All we need now is a web based device managemnet client for the streamers... save all this faffin' about connecting apps every time you want to see what's playing !  (IMHO)

Just installed v1.6c on my HDX. Anybody know if the DTC that is included on the 1.6c download is any different to the 1.6 version?

It's version 2.0.11.1165 - the same one I believe.   My DTC didn't change at all.

The new 2TB version might be great, but in the end, the SSD version is the way to go...

Do you have an indication regarding the costs involved?

Michel

Did it today

Once downloaded there is a set of pdf's giving installation instructions in a set of languages - the first in the list is the English file.

Simple to follow instructions, job done in about 15 mins tops

Same here. It's not clear to me what has changed but the 1.5c FW is recommended for all versions of the HDX running an earlier version - according to the Email newsletter I received today. . Can't get the DTC installed for some reason but the version that came with 1.6b works just fine so I won't worry about it.
