How do I change from Windows Media Player to Asset on my NDX

Posted by: Consciousmess on 14 May 2012

Hi all,

I have now installed Asset as my UPnP server and I want to use THIS now on my NDX and not Windows Media Player.  Can anyone help?  I have read the manual and I cannot figure out what to do on my NDX!!

Many thanks

Jon

Hi Geoff, The music drop outs were due to me trying to stream huge files at 4096kb/s. I think. I was going to ask if Naim could increase the buffer that the NDX has so that the 100% doesn't drop to 0% so quickly? Cheers Jon

The NDX is capable of playing a stream at 192/24 which is equivalent to 9216 Kb/s. Even 96/24 is 4608 Kb/s so you can't blame your music dropout problem on the streaming buffer. That is NOT the problem.

As I said above your network connection is not good enough somewhere in the path from your USB drive through the PC down to the router and onward from there to the NDX. A USB attached drive is not ideal for a start but WiFi can also be a weak point. Then there is the router. If it is a cheap give away like a BT Homehub that came from your Telephone service company, that is quite possibly not good enough. Anyway the first step would be to take WiFi out of the path by substituting a cable connection as suggested.
