Growing talk that apple is about to make an offer for loewe
Thats a stretch.
Foxconn has however bought sharp! This makes far more sense.
I dont really see what loewe are bringing to any party really
It would depend on the market plan. By paying a 100 million for Loewe they get a set up Tv company, they can Apple the product. I would guess using there interface and have a sort of hydrid Tv - computer. Lets be honest with smart Tvs this is the way ahead. Loewe do a fairly smart ipad app why not have a Tv run from an ipad using that as the keypad the possibilities are endless.

I would not touch them with a barge poll.
Over priced Bag of shite.
Always going wrong/rubbish back up.
But hey what do i know?
Apple and a few Spring rolls might be able to use the name and turn it around.
If they through enough money and lots of very under paid workers at it.
Stu.
Neil, loewe have nothing apple want, they certainly wont have the facilities to produce the numbers required.
What could loewe bring, I am genuinely bemused? The Register usually has a good handle on these things and I have not seen loewe mentioned. They were good many years ago, but nower days the only thing that matters are the panels. Apple will handle the software. What therefore is the point of loewe?
Its not even a design thing is it, apple will beat them on that too.
If I am wrong, I am wrong, but I just cannot make the connection. Unless loewe have a patent on something essential in TV land that apple want.
In my experience Loewe make very fine, though not inexpensive tvs. But I imagine Apple might be more interested in their tv-Internet connection software (Apple definitely want to get into the provision of video market). Still this is all rumours.
The worst TV I've owned was a Loewe LCD. It was a truly bad experience, and to cap the poor interface, the thing turned itself off two minutes after being switched on, then when turned on again only half the screen showed, the rest was in darkness. I bought it from The Audiofile an Bishops Stortford, and had a pig of a job convincing them anything was wrong with the telly. A video of it playing up finally convinced them, and the money was returned. I've chatted with a couple of former dealers lately, and they ditched them because of their poor quality control.
Yep, what could Loewe possibly bring, unless CRTs are making a comeback!
Tony
Never had any problem with mine. Your dealer should have replaced the tv straight off.
Had a Mac 512 and an iPod that both died within 24 hours. Just get them replaced. It didn't put me off Apple products. This is all down to proper support from the agents (which was miserable locally in the early years).
I remember another Mac that died under warranty - got the motherboard from the latest model before the actual computer was for sale (apparently they were sending the replacement parts ahead of launch)!
That lik smply reinforces what i am saying, look at the replies.
Foxconn purchased sharp, this makes far more sense. If they want to buy loewe it can only be for some sort of ip.

Loewe clearly have specialist high end TV design and manufacturing experience - and it is no secret that Apple want to enter the TV market, probably at the high end - what is the point in them taking on the mass market brands? Loewe bring all of this experience to the party in my view, the latest example of this being the Loewe Connect ID which combines a great design with all features you could want, at a relatively good value price in my view.

More or less my feelings on the matter its a bolt on for apple without to much risk, the transparent screen technology they developed has really interested apple. Interestingly the new B&O play Tv is designed with apple Tv in mind. Its easier for smaller manufacturers like Loewe and B&O to adopt a streamer rather than develop there own technology.
Loewe transparent screen,
http://articles.businessinside...ple-tv-concept-super very smart there is more on the web about this design.
