New London Cable Car

Posted by: Mike-B on 16 May 2012

Just picked up on this new addition to the London skyline

I have to admit I knew nothing about this, somehow the news, Boris Blogg or whatever passed me by.

Very impressed, useful addition to cross river travel in an area that needed it.  Great for Olympics, ExCeL, Docklands, Hotels, O2, City AP,  etc.

Well done Boris & Co, nice to see

Own up, who else did not know it was being built

(Londoners & non-UK need not apply)

Neat. But the towers are all twisted .

Boris has a twisted sense of humour

Cheers

Don

btw, it called The Emirates Airline

I noted that Don,  "Emirates Air Line",  seems the corp need for splashing their names on stuff can't be avoided these days.

Its a shame its a foreign sponsor, but Emirates seem to be one of the few companies with loose cash these days, thank goodness for that at least.  I can't see any of the London city institutions or any bank (especially) having the spare cash or the brass plated cheek to sponsor anything.

I am not so sure the name does stick on these projects, the sponsor can & does change & so does the name - The London Eye has gone thru a few,  fortunately it has never been commonly known by the sponsors name -  first it was Millennium Wheel, then British Airways London Eye,  then Merlin Entertainments London Eye, now its the EDF Energy London Eye - but its always called the London Eye.

No so sure about this one,  my guess it will probably adopt a more common name, the Cable Car maybe.

I reckon they should build a duplicate arena on the other side of the river.

Just so you could cable car between the two rather large domes.
