How to Twonky to Asset

Posted by: PG on 19 May 2012

In reading many of the threads on the forum a lot of people use Asset.

I have a qnap 212 with Twonky and am wondering how easy it is to change over to Asset?

What would the process be?

Easy.  Run Asset on any Windows laptop or server, but preferably one that is hard wired into your router.  It can run in parallel to Twonky, or you can shut down Twonky, it doesn't matter.

Then use nStream to change your UPnP server from Twonky to Asset (hit the back button multiple times until you've reached the top of the tree structure, and select Asset UPnP).

Good luck!

I used to run it on my PC (in parallel with ReadyDLNA then Twonky then VortexBox) until I installed Windows Home Server 2011 (<£40) on a server (HP ProLiant MicroServer, which was an absolute bargain with the £100 cashback) and installed Asset on that - now I just run the one instance of Asset. You do need a Windows instance to run it on. Cheers Ian
