I need the playlist function in n-Stream
Trevor Wilson from Naim was demonstrating the updated n-Stream software at last weeks Tom Tom Audio event. The roll-out will be in 2 parts, similar to the last n-Stream upgrade. The new software is due to be released in the next 2 weeks. The added functions will not be effective until the firmware for the streamers is available. The timing for this was rather vague but I understood there should be a phased release starting around the end of June.
In addition to the playlist (+ separate queueing) function, addition meta-data similar to what Meridien offer in their Sooloos system will be supported. Naim will make this data available for automatic lookup via the web based on the album/artist name.
There will also be a improvement in the speed of operation - it looked very quick in the demo.
No mention of fast forward/reverse being implemented? Apparantly it's difficult to implement this function in streamers with Bridgeco chipsets like for example ND5 XS and NDX but I read on a German forum that T+A has managed to do this with a software update on a Bridgeco based streamer (fingers crossed for Naim)
Will this work for us with the old streamer boards or will it require the 192/96 boards?
I'm pretty sure that it will work with the older boards. I had had discussions with Trevor at an earlier meeting and he recalled that I have a year-old UQ but he made no mention of the need to upgrade the hardware.
Haven't Naim made it clear future upgrades will require the new boards?
Not sure if this relates to N-Stream as well.

I really don't know why you're waiting for an n-Stream upgrade for this. If you use Asset and pay the very modest charge for the premium version, you can have this now. Plenty of other uPnP servers offer this too.
Anyone know if this update will include an Android or Windows version? I am apparently one of the few people who likes NStream but doesn't rate the iPad. I had to borrow the work iPad for a trip abroad recently for 3 weeks. Certainly not worth the money for me - only at <£150 would I consider buying one.
I don't rate cars, and houses are rubbish.
