HDX Glitch

Posted by: sktn77a on 05 June 2012

Hello:  I have and HDX 2x500 with the upgraded PCI card and RAM.  The unit will occasionally show "Error" on the LCD display and won't play or burn anything inserted.  If I put the unit into standby and switch it off and then back on again, it's fine.  This happens about once a month.  The outside of the case is quite warm to the touch and the system temps are in the 50's (processor in the 60's) centigrade.  Anybody else have a similar experience or offer any advice?

Also the little rubber bumper on the front of the drive tray keeps falling off.  I could just glue it back on but I don't know which glue sounds best...............  Seriously, though, any recommendations?  It appears to have that dry 3M tack-um stuff on it right now.

Thanks

Keith

Funny I was just about to ask a similar question as my HDX won't rip or play Bonnie Raitt's latest album.  No error message though?

Hi Graeme,

I had a similar problem with one particular album which refused to rip with no error message appearing.

Contacted the Kremlin, who thought that there might be some kind of copy protection on the CD.

They did suggest burning a copy and sending it to them, so that they could investigate, though I haven't got round to this yet, with so many CD's yet to be ripped!

Regards,

Dave.

Thanks Dave, I wondered about copy protection.  G

I burned Bonnie Rait's album on my HDX with no problem. Could be a problem with the drive. Mine had to be replaced by the dealer after I experienced similar problems as those you mention.

My problems are not album specific and the CDs rip just fine after I turn off the HDX and turn it back on again.  I'm pretty sure it's an HDX problem and not a copy protection problem.

250 CD's ripped fine so far it's just that one for some reason.  G

I've ripped a copy of the BR at work and will try that one tonight. G

The copied Bonnie Raitt cd ripped to the HDX no bother.  My guess is a physical problem with the original caused the problem.  G

Your first port of call here should be your dealer - he will be able to advise you and determine whether the unit needs to be returned for service...

Cheers

Unfortunately, my closest dealer is quite a ways away and he's more of an analog guy, hence my question on the forum.  I take it from your response, Phil, that this is not normal?

Correct - this is not normal.

If you can contact Naim support (support@naimaudio.com) then we will try to assist in resolving the issue...
