Avatar? To face or not to face? Childish, Fun, Sad, Ego?

I have  always wondered why people choose avatars instead of personal pictures for their profile?

Because I'm ugly.

Why have avatars anyhow???

Mine is a young South African l spent a few days with while indulging in my main hobby/passion/life objective.

Other answers - same as winkyincanada - then back to my first comment

That is my personal picture

This forum has Avatars now because it is a forum for young and cool dudes. At least that's what hopeless think.

Are they right?

It really is a waste of bandwidth though, I had a custom avatar on another forum, so used a frame from that.

ASAIC it can be removed anytime although there are still more pressing issues to sort out.

I use a photo of me when I was 6.  Far better than my current photos, and probably preferable to one of me at 6/12 naked on a sheepskin rug!

Nigel,

Do you remember that half eaten horse/just a head left lunch picture you posted a few years ago?

Mel Brooks brought John Merrick to the masses with his film the Elephant Man.

No one had heard of him before that film.

Stu,

I don't think "winky" would have survived in victorian times. John Merrick was a brave man fighting prejudice beyond our wildest imagination. Brooks also made a movie poking fun of a man with a tiny moustache. It's all a bit light hearted  fun...

Too much junk on the rhs of pages, the inability to navigate to all individual  forums and to navigate to the overall forums from the bottom of a page. That's a start.

I did say MORE pressing though. Not imperative.

This is still basically a mess, design wise and not a good advert.

Now, this is a bit out of my Socio-tropo-morpho- linguistics field. Have you tried to vent your frustations out to moderators/naim software designers?

Do you remember the pages of posts when the forum changed over? Reply a lot of rubbish talk from hopeless. I and many other have just thought that powers to be are satisfied with it as very little has been done, apart from trendy stuff.

Posted on: 08 June 2012 by Tony2011

Please define your interpretation of hopeless and trendy so I can follow your line of thought.

Maybe to a lot of peple out there this could be just a waste of "bandwith".

I had - I used to work in the museum of LHMC rather than in the library because you could talk there.  "My" table was between his display and the rodent ulcer.
