Every cloud has a silver lining.........

Currently having a new kitchen fitted (at full strip-out stage at present), meaning that the Naim system is frequently off as the electrician takes the power down to do his business. A fine white dust over everything in the house (despite covering things up and sealing doors with masking tape), however the positive flip side is that as we need a new consumer unit/circuit breaker, I've been able to ask the electrician to run me a dedicated 10mm2 spur out to the garage, which will allow me to get put through the floor to my music room at a later stage. Never thought I'd be able to get this (despite having read the multiple threads on here about the advantages of doing this), but fact that the kitchen ceiling is down and the kitchen walls are being routed out means that this is now much easier. Also exploring running direct cat6 Ethernet rather than current powerline..... It's nice when things come together like this!

Get a separate consumer unit for the hifi put in at the same time.

Thanks your Lordship.  Good point, and should be easily 'do-able'.

Will talk to my electrician on Monday on this.  Have been reading the multiple threads on this forum (including those that risked being pulled!), and am more confused than ever (e.g. spur vs ring).  Anyway will talk to my sparky and see what options are allowable under current regs.

George.
