Naim can now play ALAC!

Posted by: chrismuc on 08 June 2012

After reading the many forum posts about Naim not being able to read ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec) I was quite surprised that my UnitiiQute (via MacMini and Playback) had no problem playing them.

A mail from the Naim support made it clear:
"All our 24/192 products will play ALAC"

Thank you!

@Lontano: With me the same. No Airplay - No buy of a Naim Streamer!

AirPlay is coming. I asked Naim about it only a couple of weeks ago.

"The Godfather" is a Tag Editor ... I've used it for years and it's getting a bit long in the tooth and clunky now but it still does the biz.

@Chief Chirpa: I also asked Naim about this in the beginning of April and back then they told me "We hope to include Airplay but I cannot give a timescale." So that was no ensurement at all that Airplay WILL come. Your statement sounds very different. So where did you get this Information from or who told you that?

Greetings

Elija, Naim's Steve Hopkins told me AirPlay is on the way, and though he couldn't give a date, he suggested I keep an eye on Naim's website for further information.
