What is your most played album in full?

As above, mine is Foolish behaviour by Rod stewart, originally on vinyl then cassette and eventually on cd. Which album have you played the most "all the way through" over the years, excluding greatest hits and compilations etc. It might not even be your favourite album of all time, just something that always seems to be in the car or getting a regular play on the home hi-fi!

It took me quite a while to figure it out, but this one probably is a realistic candidate:

One of the most wonderful pop album ever IMO.

on vinyl

For me it's:

DSOTM

Hasten Down the Wind - Linda Ronstadt (my first one of her)

Turbulent Indigo - Joni Mitchell

and most recently

Dustbin - Rob Berry.

For me:

  • Sara K. "What Matters"
  • Sara K. "No Cover"
  • Stacey Kent  " Breakfast on the Morningtrain"
  • Jacintha "Jacintha"

Used to listen to this album at Uni in the late '70s.  Still love it and listen to it.  My two daughters also latched on to it in their teens and they often select it on the HDX when they are home from Uni.

Gerard Manset is very special for me

'cause when I was young it was my father prefered singer

I remember the listen of my father's LP at the end of the seventies, early eighties

In french I can say Gerard Manset is my "Madeleine de Proust"

don't know an english translation

he followed me all my life

I can't pass one month without listen to one of his CD

but I can accept It's not esay to listen to his CD 'cause it's very "special"

but his voice "dressed my hair on my arms"

"Royaume de Siam", is I think the most easy to listen to

I can ony encourage you to listen to it

best regards

Julien

Merci Julien,

Unfortunately, Manset's albums don't look readily available, Royaume de Siam in particular (even saw it for >$250 on GEMM !???). But it's one entry in Qobuz Discothèque idéale, so perhaps I might go for a digital version but I'll try to dig the sales and second hand bins first.

Yes I had seen this one. No problem shipping out of France I presume, but €20 for a second-hand CD described as being in an acceptable condition, whereas Qobuz bit-perfect CD-quality download is €12.99, thanks but no thanks !

Thanks you for having taken the time to have a look Julien. I'll find it one of these days, or I'll fall back to Qobuz.

Bon début de semaine

This one.  Without a doubt.  Bought from Pitchfork Records in Concord NH when I was at school.  Nasty thin Dynaflex pressing but still sounds great even after all these years.  I have come to know just about every tic, pop and scratch on this LP

This is one that, when I listen to it, almost always gets played the whole way through:

Roger Hodgson is coming through on his 'solo' tour (with a backup band and I presume playing mostly Supertramp).  I can't quite decide if I will go -- saw the real Supertramp twice in the 70's already.

Bart,

I saw him in Montreal with that band... If you loved Supertramp, don't miss that gig!

I have a little story. A few years ago, Roger came solo to a well known bar here in Montreal (no longer exists). It was a stand up gig. The place was jam packed, oldies like me but many youngsters as well. He played them all, even School. One of the best solo show I ever saw; two hours of delight. And then he went to another place in town to have a beer and I saw him there, signing autographs and talking with people. A great great person.

Yip

BTW I demoed the new DeVore Gibbon 88 yesterday.    I think I'm gonna crack for them. You still have your Nines? (Pls send me a mail - addy in profile)

Have another warm glow Bruce, I have enjoyed listening to a couple of tracks on Youtube.

One more. I just checked it out on Spotify. Very nice.

Ha, ha - exactly right! Luckily I rarely ever listen to this one on CD.  I would like to find it on 7 1/2 ips reel though...

Thanks for the feedback on the show; I bought tickets   I met Supertramp in the summer of 1979 -- they came to play in Richmond Virginia where I was living, and came into the restaurant where I was working that summer.  I got their autograph on a bar napkin . . . had it framed for many years and it's long lost I'm afraid.

And I'll email later about the Devore Nines; I still have them and really like them.
