24/192 and 24/96 free downloads from 2L

Posted by: m0omo0 on 25 June 2012

Hi everyone,

Just been pointed to this page of free downloads of 24/192 (stereo) and 24/96 (stereo &5.1) hi-res files from the norwegian label 2L:

http://www.2l.no/hires/index.html

There are a few 24/96 WAV (and DXD and DSD) as well.

I must say that I don't know this classical music label, nor do I have tested the files yet (not home now) so please don't shoot the messenger !

PS: For those who have seen the norwegian movie deUSYNLIGE (a.k.a Troubled Water) and appreciated its score, you'll find there a 24/96 FLAC of the Bridge over Troubled Water organ rendition.

Glad you liked it !

Has anyone tried the 24/192 files on a revealing system ? Are they any good compared to the 24/96 ? Is it worth it ?

I haven't tricked my SqueezeBox to play 24/192 so I can't really try myself (and not really sure my little system would show me the differences anyway).

I played the 24bit / 352KHz WAV files on a usb stick in my nDac and it was pretty amazing!

I have not had enough time 'A-B'-ing to say this vs that.

SuperUniti will only play up to 24/192. You could downsample using Audacity or Audition or Sample Manager but I think the site allows you to download slightly lower res versions anyway.

I thought so ...

Yes the site proposes 24/192 anyhow
