Gas and Electricity suppliers

Who do you use and why ?
We at present use British gas & EDF energy.....BUT as our last gas bill was for £650.00 for the last 3 months i am about to tell good old Brish Gas that they can poke it.
I am now thinking of going to someone like Atlantic Gas for both Gas and Lecky.
Love to know what everyone else does before i make a final choice on who to switch to.

It'll be no surprise that I use 'more than average' electricity, running all my Naim boxes 24/7. At the start of the year I signed up with Which for The Big Switch where loads of folks club together to get the best energy price possible.
I got the results a couple of weeks ago... by joining The Big Switch, I can save a huge... £6 (six pounds) a year.
I'm stayin' with e-On - on their on-line, paperless, pay by monthly direct debit, simple to run tarriff. It works well for me.
I also signed up for The Big Switch. I've saved £70 a year so worthwhile making the change to Scottish Power from British Gas (I'm electric only). The latter 'phoned me yesterday & some snotty kid decided he'd try & question my judgement.
Needless to say, I'll never go back to BG!
I too am with Scottish Power & have been since a long while back, moved from BG & Southern lecky into the combined SP package.
I was slightly concerned with some reports of SP being a poor performer so I checked the compare/switch sites, then as I am with Which? got into The Big Switch.
I ended up staying with SP, I saved a very small amount below their new contract offer for doing something I can't remember. We were already paperless, DD & send meter readings monthly. But it was the best deal for me out of all the UK providers.
The meter reading thing is nice in that it tracks both gas & lecky usage by month in table (cost & volume) & also graphically which is great for satisfying my nerdish graph loving tendencies.
They are on the ball - I go on some longish overseas trips 2 or 3 times a year, mostly in the Sept-March period, leaving the house empty & only ticking over with minimal heat. Each time as soon as the new meter data is sent in they contracted me concerned because of the seasonal anomalies.
I am sure like all of these providers, someone somewhere will have something bad to say about all of them, but IME Scottish Power have never given me reason to question or complain.
They've certainly been very efficient with the changeover so far Mike. The personalised section of their website's good; I didn't get that with British Gas.
I too tried the Big Switch but it didn't amount to much difference. I also tried Huge Switch (Energyline) and they came up with a £200 saving with First Utility, so I am in the process of moving. FU (???) have also pegged prices till Aug 2013. I have been with EON for a few years now and received a phone call asking why I was moving. They didn't offer to price match though so as I pointed out, much like the banks etc, there is no such thing as customer loyalty any more.
Checkout https://www.utilitywarehouse.co.uk/ they promise a good deal. I have been happy with their service and use a UK call centre!
I get gas and electricity from Good Energy. Very pleased on all fronts: cost, service and the green/ethical side too.
