John,
Thanks for the heads up.
Even if its the same doc shown years ago?Its worth a watch.
I wish the BBC would dig up the Ginger Baker film Doc from the early 70s when he was playing with all the different drummers from around Africa and show that again???

I'm not sure if it will be the same program, I was watching in the US, but we had a topic going for Graceland's 25th anniversary that you can reference...
Superb record.
I started to watch it last night but fell asleep around a hour in.

I started to watch it last night but Sally fell asleep.
I got around to watching the TV documentary last evening. Superb television. I learned a lot more about the political situation in SA in 1985.
Fascinating to be reminded about the repression and subjugation of a nation such a short time ago.
Paul Simon is one of the greatest songwriters of our age as far as I'm concerned.
John.
Sorry John didn't share your enthusiasm for the programme, but 100% agree that
Paul Simon is one of the greatest songwriters of our age as far as I'm concerned.
Yes, Paul Simon is wonderful song writer, lyricist, and performer with a with an endearing wit. I find that I am appreciating his talents more and more as my musical tastes change with age. Folksy, yet very progressive, and always great use of percussion.
I was recently struck by the poignancy of the lyrics to a song of his I had never heard before; "Darling Lorraine"
Paul did get to marry Leia Origana for a few weeks.
