Lame Albums You Keep Returning To

For me it's Van Dyke Parks album Tokyo Rose.

Musically it reminds me of a modern musical, and I hate modern musicals. The vocals are poor, but I must admit the lyrics are quite good.

I usually play both sides, say to myself, "that was crap , I'm not going to play that again". Yet 12 months later I play both sides, etc.

At present I'm thinking of digitising it, although that will obviously change once I've listened to it again.

Haircut 100,  pelican west.

Every play creates a groan in the house, but some great songs, a load of fun and energy, and great sound to boot.

I bought a couple of albums by Canadian prog/pomp rockers Saga to remind me of bad taste from my teenage years. Truly dreadful, but there are a couple of bits of songs that do stick in the mind, just best not to play the whole song, let alone the whole album.

As this is a zero embarrassment thread, Loggins and Messina's second LP from 1973 is not only nostalgic for me but has some fantastic playing from the band, especially the drumming and Messina's guitar on 'Good Friend' and 'Angry Eyes'. Only included here as most folk would label L&M as terminally pipe and slippers. Very good test of a decent turntable though!

I don't have ANY lame albums, leastways none that I'll let onto.

Listened to a few tracks on Youtube. Sounds good to me, especially "Shadow of a doubt"
