Itunes to FLAC

Posted by: tonym182 on 17 July 2012

Hi

I've ripped all my CD's to FLAC via DBpoweramp but I also have a large itunes library most probably ripped to Apple lossless (not completely sure....). The library contains some duplicates of my CD's but a load of other music that I have inherited.

Do I need to convert from ALAC to FLAC (don't know how!!) and put them on my NAS to be played by the Superuniti or should I just copy the folders from itunes across to the NAS and let the SU play the questionable quality files?  eek!!!

Regards

Hi Tony

I guess it depends where the files reside at the moment, if you are using Dbpoweramp there must be a PC somewhere, so if the files are on this you need only switch on or install a UPnP server for the SU to see them.

Assuming that the SU can play ALAC of course, not sure about that.

However, Asset UPnP server may well be able to convert Alac to WAV on the fly for example. If all else fails then Dbpoweramp has Audio Converter built into the package. Select the files or folder right click and ‘convert to’ will enable you to convert your files to flac or WAV or whatever takes your fancy really; very simple.

Now if you are using a MAC I guess none of this is of much use, sorry about that.
