NDS Problem

Posted by: Graham 91 on 21 July 2012

Hi,

I collected my NDS late yesterday afternoon, I was running a UnitiServe SDD, NDX, XPS2, DAC, 555ps.

Late this afternoon, after 9 solid hours of sweat and tears reconfiguring my rack and cables, I turned on my new UnitServe SSD, NDS, 555ps combo.

Put it on Radio and shot down my dealers to drop off my NDX, DAC in P/X and collected some Stillpoints I had on order.

When I returned an hour or so later all was well.

However, when I tried to play music stored on my NAS my NDS only plays part of a track and then goes silent.

The display on the NDS reads: Stopped Press Play To Start. If I do it goes back to select: All Music, CD list, USB1234etc.

I believe my network is configured to non DCHP, when I connected the NDS it emulated the same network settings as my old NDX.

My NDS, UnitiServe, NAS and a wifi extender are hard wired to a stand alone router. The WiiFi extender connects to the Modem and Mac in a different room.

Any suggestions on how to solve the problem would be appreciated.

Regards,

Graham

It sounds like a classic IP conflict. Check for certain you are using the right IP then reboot the rooter.

Graham.

I am concerned by your statement that the NDS 'emulated' your NDX settings.

A static IP Address has to be set.

Do you maintain a list of the IP Addresses you have on your network.

Generally you will want them in the same range, so the devices can all communicate with each other, i.e. your NAS & NDS.

Once you have the list, and have double checked you have not assigned the same IP twice, I would remotely log onto your NAS and try to PING the NDS.

Thank you everyone for your advice.

The problem appears to have been the Mac code.

Put it on DHCP, re booted UnitiServe, switch, modem and NAS just for good measure.

It works fine now, after turning off DHCP the network has assigned a new Mac code.

24 hours in, its already providing a wider, deeper soundstage than my previous NDX,XPS, DAC, 555ps combo.

Again a big Thank You to everyone, really apriciated.

Best wishes

Thats cool. Networks dont assign mac codes though. Every piece of equipment that utilises a network has a unique mac code.

Your problem would appear to have been that the router had assigned a certain ip address to a certain mac code, which was no longer available. (at a guess)
