Even though I have the original UK pressing on LP, the original UK pressing on CD and the SACD of "Spirit of Eden" - same for "The Colour of Spring" except for the SACD - I eventually crumbled and bought the new pressing on a whim. The main reason for doing so was that I plan to move to a streaming set up at some stage and am starting to build a hi res library.
The sticker on the cover mentions the hi res audio transfers of the original album masters but it's only when you read the fine print inside that you are told
Although the audio on this DVD has been transferred from the original analogue stereo masters at 96khz/24bit, the audio used to create the final mixes was bounced down from analogue 2" 24 track to a Mitsubish Pro Digi 32 track digital recorder which only recorded at a sampling rate of 44.1khz or 48khz. Where high resolution audio would normally have content up to 40khz plus, the use of the Mitsubishi, with a sampling rate of 44.1khz means there is no content available above 22khz on the original digital recordings and therefore all mixes / copies that followed would also be lacking in content above 22khz.
No mention of the original bit depth is made.
Both LP and DVD remain unplayed so I can't vouch for how they compare to my other versions yet. I haven't bothered to get "The Colour of Spring" as I assume it will be the same
