Simple Audio Roomplayer?

Posted by: thebiglebowski on 28 July 2012

Has anyone got or trialled the simple audio Roomplayer II?

Have currently got a sonos connected to a Rega DAC but am interested in seeing what 24 bit has to offer. Looks like sonos have got no imminent plans to add 24bit to the sonos despite the hardware already supporting it.

Just seems to be a simple evolution, I liked the sound of the sonos direct into the amp but after adding a rega dac the quality has improved massively. Would it be the same going from 16 bit FLAC to 24 bit FLAC? have read comments elsewhere that 24bit is partly used by studios as it gives a wider bandwidth and they can be lazier with fitting the frequencies into the recording and that it sonically doesn't have much more to offer than 16bit???

the Big Lebowski.

I just talked to a guy in a Danish hifi store, who had bought Roomplayer 1 on the strenght of a review in a German audio magazine. He had a lot of problems when using the iPhone app = Constant crashes. But otherwise he liked the SQ.

To me Roomplayer 1 looks like a Linn Majik / Unitiqute competitior. If Roomplayer 2 is a notch better, it may be an interesting proposition for an office set-up like the one I have ... I will try to have a listen at a dealer near me.

Best wishes,

Peter
