HDX ripping question
Posted by: PeterX on 11 August 2012
Have just starting the process of ripping my CDs to my new HDX ( plus NDac/XPS). Everything is going well so far! However I'm sure I have seen that double albums, Handels' Messiah, in this instance, can be combined into one.
Can anyone tell me how to do this please using nServe or the HDX.
Thanks
Peter
Off the top of my head I think the playlist feature might be what you require?
Yes thanks Harry. After posting I realised that was the probable way to go.

Hi Peter, I'm not sure you can this with CDs ripped by the HDX, it indexes them in its internal database and you & I don't get a look-in to this, I'm afraid.
Having said that, you could try editing the album name and removing the 'CD1' & 'CD2' from the name. I've never tried it myself - let us know if it works.
For externally ripped & downloaded stuff, just use a tag editor like MP3TAG (doesn't JUST do MP3's).
"Bon chance" as they say quite often down in Salisbury these days.
I am really on a steep learning curve here! I have an iMac and although an NAS has been installed I have not been able to find (see) it yet!! So downloads are not possible yet. Why have Naim not produced a desk top Clinton for a Mac?
So concentrating on ripping my quite large CD collection. The main problem so far here has been deciding on a library nomenclature that works for me.
But Hey I'm enjoying what I hear so far.

For Clinton read client!!!
Yeah. Got that. DTC for Mac is in the pipe and getting closer. It's a very useful app and I'm sure you'll be able to use it in the not too distant future. You can do a lot from the front panel as well although for editing here I prefer to use the Flash interface on a PC. I guess this doesn't help you much. Sorry.
Harry,
The Flash interface for HDX works fine on a Mac, no PC required. Using just that, one should be able to locate the NAS--DTC is not needed. Unlike the first versions of the HDX software, one can now rename albums, delete them, and, as always, create playlists.
What is this flash interface?

Look up the "IP Address" of your HDX in the "System --> System Status" menu, using the front panel display. For example, mine is 10.0.1.13. Then, enter this address into any browser on a computer that's connected to your network, and you will see a reproduction of the HDX front panel display in your browser. Much more convenient!
